Bali is often heralded as the birthplace of the infinity pool and it’s certainly one of the first countries that springs to mind when we think about luxury hotels and glistening swimming pools. We’ve amassed quite a collection of beautiful Balinese hotels and villas that feature infinity pools, so today we’ve rounded up a few of our favourites to give you some serious sunny holiday inspiration.
Amandari Bali
Designed in the style of a traditional Balinese village, the Amandari was brought to life by local artisans who hand-carved the gorgeous stone walls around the entrance pavilion, and it just gets more and more impressive from there.
Each of the private suites and villas feature private walled gardens, sunken outdoor baths and panoramic views of the resort’s stunning surroundings. In the central area of the resort you’ll find the lagoon shaped infinity pool, which is bordered by exotic palm trees and acres of lush vegetation.
Bulgari Hotel
The exclusive Bulgari hotel is set along rocky cliffs, is a magnificent 150 meters above sea level and the luxurious resort faces the breathtaking beauty of the Indian Ocean.
Munduk Moding Plantation, Indonesia
Located in Gobleg, close to Lovina Beach, Munduk Moding Plantation has plenty on offer both on-site and in the surrounding area. Close by is the Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club, for those looking for activities away from the hotel and, for visitors seeking a little culture, the Ulun Danu Temple is a short distance away.
Alila Villas Uluwatu
Credited as being the first resort in Indonesia to receive the highest accolade in sustainable development certification, the design at Alila Villas Uluwatu tries to integrate architecture with the surrounding natural environment. As a result, the dramatic infinity pool runs along a clifftop plateau on the southern coastline of Bali’s Bukit peninsula, with a drop of hundreds of metres to the Indian Ocean below.
Ubud Hanging Gardens
High on top of a gorge in Bali’s cultural heart of Ubud, the Ubud Hanging Gardens is the ultimate escape for any travellers seeking peace and tranquility from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s busy cities and markets.
In addition to the stunning split level infinity pool, each villa or suite comes with its own private terrace and infinity pool, with optional views of the surrounding rivers and jungle. As well as the pools, the hotel also offers its own boutique and beautifully landscaped gardens, but for guests keen to venture into the local area, regular shuttle buses depart to and from the Ubud Hanging Gardens every day.
Murni’s Villas
Infinity pools are quickly becoming a standard feature of luxury hotels and resorts the world over, though it’s not so common to find one of these visually stunning pools in private accommodation. But that’s where Murni’s Villas in Bali comes in, as these locally owned properties come complete with an infinity pool, overlooking the Balinese valley and rice fields beyond.
